Jamie Oliver's global incentive with home cooking

Welcome food lovers to the Food Revolution! Food Revolution Day is 15th May 2015 in UK. See below for Food Day in USA. But what is it all about?

Living in the 21st Century, you would think that we had reached a peak in eating food that consistently tastes great and optimizes our health. Yet sadly, it seems that although we largely have more choice when it comes to food, many of the world's population have chosen to opt for food that is cheap, quick to eat with little or no preparation and artificial. In a day when we have more knowledge and advancement in technology, we often choose food that is killing us. Sadly, many children in the 21st Century are growing up with little or no ability or interest in home cooking and have bad associations of sitting around a family table and eating socially. Many of these same children are suffering from modern illnesses such as autism and Attention Deficit Disorder, which can be traced to a poor diet. Of course there are many other factors that produce our modern illnesses, but a poor diet is certainly a major factor.

It is time this was addressed and Jamie Oliver is leading an initiative to do just that. From beginnings in UK and USA school dining-halls and providing young people with the chance to learn and qualify in the catering industry, he is asking us, the general public, to speak out in the name of real food. All around the world we are being asked to share our talents, resources and ideas as we acknowledge that what we eat really does determine whether we will live or die. Read on to discover more.

Happy Eating At The Family Table - Provides quality time spent together

So often nowadays food is eaten on the go. We have little time to prepare, eat or enjoy it. Is it any wonder we end up with digestive problems which might lead to time off from work or school? Yet eating real food is the best investment you can give yourself and loved ones and- it doesn't have to take hours every day! Eating daily at the family table provides the opportunity to talk together (before problems escalate and miscommunication sets in) and to be accountable to one another in what you are eating. It is important to make this a peaceful and happy time, so that eating food is associated with these qualities, rather than with sadness and strife. Try to resolve your arguments well before or after a meal.
